Senior Citizens

The Schuylkill Haven Senior Citizens Organization meets twice a month, the 2^nd and 4^th Monday; February through December at 6:00 pm in The Schuylkill Haven Senior Center, 340 Haven Street, Schuylkill Haven. The first meeting is informational for upcoming events and game time with members and friends. The second meeting is updates and hired entertainment and/or information pertaining to Senior Citizens.  Annual dues for members are $10.00.

There are 2 events away from the Center in July, a picnic at Island Park (weather permitting) and December, a Christmas Dinner with Entertainment and more at The First United Church of Christ, Route 61, next to the Penn State Campus.

This building which was originally built for the Senior Citizens of Schuylkill Haven and Vicinity with a Grant written by local concerned citizens of the Town, to allow Senior Citizens a place of refuge during very high or very low temperatures; as well as a gathering place for friends to have lunch (bring your own), play cards or just enjoy a day out with other Senior Citizens.

The Senior Citizens also run trips throughout the year for members of the club; anyone who wants to travel with the group can make a reservation, after the Club Members have the first opportunity to make a reservation.

The building now houses Diakon, Youth Sports (Recreation Center) and other Rental Community Events and is under the direction of the Schuylkill Haven Borough Council.
